ION Audio's Vinyl Motion Deluxe takes the classic suitcase turntables of yesteryear and turns them into something truly impressive.
Vinyl Motion Deluxe has a rugged case with a handle, so you can carry it anywhere and keep your player safe. When you get where you're going, the built-in speakers and rechargeable battery let you listen to your records for up to 4 hours, even in the middle of a park. It plays all your 33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM records, and comes with a 45 RPM adapter.
Standard RCA outputs allow you to connect to more powerful speakers when you want a louder performance, and there's a headphone jack when you want to listen in private. It also includes an 1/8” auxiliary input to plug in an external music source and use Vinyl Motion Deluxe as a portable amplifier.
Finally, Vinyl Motion Deluxe connects to your computer to convert any LP to a digital file using the included ION EZ Vinyl/Tape Converter software, so your classic analog collection can always be on the format most convenient for you.

So why 4 stars for this cheapy? Because it does what I expect it to, at a fair price.
It’s battery-operated, and runs a long time on a set of 4 rechargeable AAs. Aside from the obvious portability options this gives, it also makes it a safer option to give to a kid, even than a nice condition vintage Fisher-Price one.
It’s also a good one to take with you to the thrift shop to sample that record you really want, but has a scratch you can’t tell whether it’s a “skipper” or not. Each time this works, you’ve saved a buck. (Or six)
My 3 year old prefers this to my fancy one, and I like that too. If she wrecks this one, despite my best efforts, it’s no biggy.
The mechanism is the same one used in the Crosleys, Jensens, and others. It probably is made by the million somewhere in China.
The tonearm weight is on the heavy side, so with continuous replaying of records, they won’t last as long as they would with a higher-end ‘table. There is a bright side to this though: that stylus will plow out old dirt from the grooves that a higher-end one wouldnt; kind of a ghetto deep clean.
The sound quality is not great, but much clearer than the cassettes you had in the 80s. There’s not much bass at all, but it sounds good enough to satisfy in a small room or for background music in a big room. I’m using this now as my bedroom turntable, for example. For that purpose, the auto-stop feature is nice. I don’t feel like I have to jump up as soon as the record’s done.
It even has a cueing lever, so the needle drops and pick ups aren’t so abusive to your records. All in all, it was a great value. The only question is how well it’ll hold up.
If you’re after HiFi sound, this is a poor choice. It will not compete against even a cheap CD boombox, even though it costs double. This is about getting into vinyl or making vinyl more portable. That’s it.
For notably better sound for just a bit more money, consider the Audio Technica AT60-LP-USB. It’s sound output is an order of magnitude better; truly HiFi. If you can manage it, the Audio Technica AT120-LP-USB is even better yet. Those need àt least a set of computer speakers to get going though. For an entry level audiophile grade turntable, consider the U-turn.

I’ve been using this thing nonstop the past couple of days listening to my dad’s old record collection, and even very old records still sound amazing. Though it is a bit darker than the picture in real life, (I got the turquoise), that’s the only negative thing I have to say about it. All in all, this is a great little record player, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive record player that looks cute and has amazing sound 🙂
