Full Range, Class A/B Topology

A class A/B amplifier uses two groups of transistors and it is generally considered to be the best compromise of the two classes - A and B - put together. A pure class A amplifier typically has an enormous amount of current flowing through its output transistors with no audio signal. A pure class B amplifier has no current flowing through its outputs with no audio signal. A class A/B amplifier is much more efficient than a class A, but without the possible distortion of a class B.

MOSFET Power Supply

A Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor is a transistor used for amplifying or switching electronic signals, found in systems where information is processed or stored. We use them in our computers, telephones, game consoles, cars, electrical appliances, and, in this case, amplifiers. A MOSFET is basically an electrical switch with two possible states - on or off - that allows the flow of electrical current. The MOSFET performs its most important role in our D Class amplifiers by allowing or preventing the flow of power and creating an efficient amplifier.

4/3/2 Channel

This versatile feature comes in handy for a few different installation applications. The “4” channel means that you are able to simply use the AR2400.4 as a four channel amplifier by hooking up four speakers - fronts and rears - to it. The “3” channel allows you to hook up two speakers to channels 1 and 2, and use the remaining 3 and 4 channels for one subwoofer in bridged mode. Channels 1 and 2 can be bridged to accommodate one speaker or one subwoofer, and channels 3 and 4 can be used in the exact same application.

Variable Bass Boost

With the AR2400.4 amplifier, you get variable bass boost. This feature gives you control of exactly how much bass you want to pump out to your subwoofers, whereas with regular bass boost you would either have extra bass, or not.

Low And High Level Inputs

There are two different ways that you can get a signal into Armor series amplifiers: high and low level input. Low level input is measured in voltages and comes in the form of RCA outputs from the back of your receiver, going to the RCA inputs on your amplifier. High level input is measure in wattages, and comes in the form of one positive and one negative wire from the back of your receiver, going to the input terminal of your amplifier in the same wire form. Low-level (RCA) input wiring is preferred for best audio performance. Always use a high-quality RCA cable for the best audio performance. NOTE: Do not connect both the high and low level inputs from your receiver to your amplifier at the same time.

General Features

• Bridgeable Outputs • Tri-Mode Capable • 2 Ohm Stable Operation With Output Power Increase • Thermal and Speaker Short Protection • Soft Turn-On Circuit • Remote Turn On / Turn Off Circuit • Gunmetal Gray Heatsink • Nickel Plated RCA Low Level And High Level Inputs

Variable Crossover

Speakers reproduce sound based on high, low, or mid-range frequencies. This process is called the crossover effect, and it occurs because many audio systems cannot cover the entire spectrum sufficiently to minimize sound distortion and maintain an appropriate frequency ratio. With the AR2400.4 amplifier, a variable crossover is offered so that you have the ability to set the frequency at which the crossover occurs. You can set specific sound specifications such as the bass, mid-range, and high frequency reproduction.

    Terrible Amplifier, May 29, 2013

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: BOSS AUDIO AR2400.4 Armor 2400-Watt Full Range, Class A/B 2-8 Ohm Stable 4 Channel Amplifier with Remote Subwoofer Level Control (Electronics)
I ordered this because of the good reviews that I’m now starting to think are fake. I bought this amp to power 2 6×9’s and a 8 inch subwoofer that has a 100watt rms rating. The 6×9’s have a 75 rms rating each. This amp is 2400 watts so I figured It would be more than enough. I hooked it up and it seemed to be working fine. Then 10 minutes later while I was cleaning things up and putting my tools away the music stopped. I checked the amp and it was SUPER HOT!!!!!!!!!. It was in protect mode. I checked all my wring and everything was good. Checked my ground and it was good. I called my friend over and he brought one of his precision power 4 channel amps. I installed that one to make sure my wiring was good. This amp played for over an hour torturing my speakers and it never ran hot. The precision power was only 400 watts rms. We decided to take it to the local audio shop. There they had an amplifier tester. They ran a dynamic at 4 ohms and it was only 63 watts per channel rms. ON the paper work here this amp is supposed to be 240 watts per channel RMS at 4 ohms. This amp is just a waste of time. I bought it because I had a good experience with a different boss amp. Even though it also lied about the power rating and ran hot it performed for hours unlike this piece of junk right here. If you want this amp just to power door speakers it should work fine. Also this amp does not like to be bridged. Buy at your own risk

UPDATE: do not run this amp with a 2 ohm subwoofer . I brought my amp back to ny i had it in my country and here the weather is colder so its helping with the heating of the amp . I am running 5 speakers which include 2: 6×9 and 2:6 1/2 and my two subs . So actually six speakers they are all 4 ohm and its working great

Not a door speaker amp… Best for subs!!!, February 23, 2016
    By

As a serious music lover on a budget I had to get some equipment that had some size to it but not a huge price so I went for this amp to power my 6 1/2 doors x4. I tried to run it along side a second pioneer 600 watt for my PB 12’s and it kept going into protection after a few minutes. So, I decided that I would keep the bass low and swapped the amps which now has the Boss running my dual driver subs running in 4ohm mode in a pretty big enclosure. Guess what? The amp ran my subs pretty well so I decided to do a lil tuning and balanced the system to see how it would run before going into protection. I drove around town for about an hour bumping till my ears started ringing and it never shut off. It did get quit hot but I kept going to see what it would do since I do have a warranty that says… “We will replace it if not 100% satisfied.” So I bumped it even longer. By the time I got home I could smell the heat from the amps but it never cut off. I thought it may be broke in a bit now so I swapped the amps again and put the doors back on it and sure enough… 30 seconds into the first Future song it clipped off. I looked it up and was able to determine this is best as a sub amp and since the controls are nice for the sub channels I just did a setup to satisfy my taste and hoped for the best. It makes a huge difference if you adjust them correctly and set it and your head unit to avoid distortion. Trial and error is your friend in this case but primo sound is definently possibly if you set the feq and boost well. I bought this from another site but since I use Amazon a lot and I saw the bad comments so I thought I’d share as well. Now, if your like me and run a dual amp system buy this for your subs and use channels 1-2 but just tweeters. Also, get a more stable amp for the music producing speakers cause this is not able to amplify effective at a higher frequency load for any watt rated speakers or for any decent amount of time. My subs make my mirrors go crazy and now run in a very nice semi heavy load, the amp gets nice and hot at long runs but doesn’t shut off. I added pics to show the setup as well… So I gave this a 3 out of 5 since they don’t do what’s advertised but for a guy like me who can find out how to use anything the correct way I definently like what I’m getting including the reactions people make when they realize it’s a Boss amp doing all that to those subs. Enjoy them the right way and you’ll be glad you bought it. Follow the manufacture recommendations and you’ll be getting a headache/refund in no time…lol enjoy!!!
